Kelvin Miranda says lawsuit over father’s death still ongoing, rejects settlement

Kelvin Miranda said the legal case on the death of his father remains ongoing, explaining that he prefers to let the legal process take its course instead of accepting a settlement.

Miranda shared the update during an interview with showbiz vlogger Ogie Diaz uploaded on YouTube, where he was asked about the status of the case.

The actor shared that the first trial was held a few days ago, and the other party has reportedly expressed willingness to admit responsibility and settle by offering compensation.

“Parang gusto na rin yata nilang umamin. Makipag-areglo, tapos magbigay ng danyos sa abot lang daw nung makakaya nila,” Miranda said.

“Sabi ko, desisyon ng nanay ko ‘yun kasi siya ’yung asawa. Ako, ayoko. Gusto ko kahit idaan na lang sa tamang proseso,” he added.

Asked if he wants the driver to be imprisoned, Miranda said he only wants the appropriate punishment under the law.

“Makulong or kung ano lang yung tama na parusa para sa kanya. Kasi hindi ko rin naman dinarasal na may mangyaring masama sa tao,” he said.

“Gusto ko lang yung equality. And at the same time, equity na rin na bigyan nila kami ng chance na mapatawad namin sila sa paraang kaya namin. Saka kung naramdaman n’yo na kailangan ng patawad,” he expressed.

In April 2025, Miranda announced on social media the death of his father, Patricio.

According to reports at the time, Patricio, who worked as a ride-hailing app driver, died after the motorcycle he was driving was hit by a van. His passenger was also injured in the incident.

Meanwhile, Miranda is known for portraying Adamus in the fantasy series “Sang’gre.” He also appeared in the films “Poon,” “Everyone Knows Every Juan” and “Chances Are, You and I.” /ra
