Minister for Tourism and Culture and Nidadavolu MLA Kandula Durgesh on Wednesday performed bhumi puja for ₹94.31 crore water grid project under the AMRUT 2.0 (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) scheme at Nidadavolu in East Godavari district.
The Godavari water will be drawn from Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage at Vijjeswaram to supply to every household in the Nidadavolu municipality by January 2028.
“The water grid project includes laying water grid, 10 MLD of water purification plant and a 90-kilometer-long pipeline to supply the drinking water to every household in the Nidadavolu municipality,” said Mr. Durgesh.
Mr. Durgesh has alleged that the Nidadavolu town on the banks of river Godavari is still struggling to access to safe drinking water despite YSR Congress had claimed to have spent Rs.73 crore on drinking water projects during 2019-24 in the town.
Mr. Durgesh has also assured to propose various infrastructure facilities, including parks, in the Nidadavolu municipality.
