An expert team constituted by the Kerala government to conduct a comprehensive probe into the debris slip near the tunnel road entrance at Kalladi in Wayanad will visit the disaster site on Thursday (July 23, 2026). It is expected to submit a report in a month.

A release said on Wednesday (July 22, 2026) that the team members would reach there by the afternoon. The team’s mandate includes finding the causes of the tragedy, evaluating the environmental approvals given for the tunnel road project by the Union and State governments, and examining the approvals by the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, and also checking if the company engaged in construction had followed all the guidelines. The team would also see if there were any security or technical lapses at the construction site.
