The Sanjeevani scheme has been conceptualised to address the shortcomings in implementing several State and Union government health schemes, says Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav.

The Andhra Pradesh government has invited tenders for implementation of the Sanjeevani scheme, an integrated digital care coordination and healthcare delivery system, which is aimed at improving delivery of healthcare services.

In a release on Wednesday, the Department of Health, Medical and Family Welfare said that the government released the Request for Participation (RfP), listing the terms for developing, designing and maintaining a digital platform for implementation of the scheme for five years. The RfP was approved by Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav after discussions with officials.

The pre-bid meeting is scheduled for July 27. For queries, another discussion will be held on July 31. The last date for submission of tenders is August 14. After evaluating the technical and financial aspects of the tenders, the final decision will be made on September 7.

Companies from the country that have prior experience in operating digital healthcare systems are eligible to participate. The government will also consider those who have had three years of experience in implementing State and Central healthcare schemes.

In a statement, Mr. Satya Kumar Yadav said the Sanjeevani scheme, launched in Kuppam the previous year on a pilot basis, had been conceptualised to address the shortcomings in implementing several State and Union government health schemes.

Under the scheme, digital health records of citizens would be maintained and the platform would play a key role by continuously updating individuals’ health information, analyse medical histories to identify potential health risks, alert citizens in advance about possible health issues, among others.

The 12 major healthcare domains under the scheme are as follows: maternal and newborn health, child health, reproductive health, communicable diseases, non-communicable diseases, mental health, dental care, eye and ENT care, trauma care, palliative care, geriatric (elderly) healthcare, diagnostic services, and free medicine distribution.

The platform will collate generated data related to an individual under these health schemes to provide appropriate guidance and advice to the public.
