Jawad Akhtar, Arsam Farooq elected to lead Islamabad Regional Cricket Association

Both candidates were elected unopposed

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the successful completion of elections for the office-bearers of the Islamabad Regional Cricket Association, with Mohammad Jawad Akhtar and Arsam Farooq Ahmed elected to key leadership positions.

According to an official notification issued by PCB Election Commissioner Mansoor Qadir, Mohammad Jawad Akhtar has been elected President of the Islamabad Regional Cricket Association, while Arsam Farooq Ahmed has taken charge as Secretary.

Both candidates were elected unopposed, securing their positions without the need for a contested election. Their three-year terms will commence immediately, as per the notification issued by the PCB.

The elections mark an important step in strengthening the administrative structure of regional cricket bodies under the PCB framework. The newly elected officials will be responsible for overseeing cricketing activities in Islamabad, including the promotion of the sport, support for local players, and coordination of regional cricket programmes.

Regional associations play a key role in Pakistan’s cricket system by identifying emerging talent, organising competitions, and providing players with opportunities to progress through the domestic cricket pathway.

With their appointments, Jawad Akhtar and Arsam Farooq Ahmed will now lead efforts to further develop cricket at the grassroots level in Islamabad and contribute towards the broader objectives of the Pakistan Cricket Board.

The PCB continues to focus on improving governance and strengthening regional structures to ensure a more organised and effective domestic cricket setup across the country.
