Kerala Police is the finest police force in the country and it has set an exemplary standard in protecting the lives and property of citizens and in maintaining law and order in the State, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said.

He was addressing a joint passing-out parade at the SAP Parade Ground, Peroorkada, Thiruvananthapuram, on Thursday.

He said that every police officer bears the huge responsibility of safeguarding the citizens’ rights guaranteed by the Constitution and in discharging one’s duties in tune with the society’s progress.

The event marked the passing-out parade of 240 recruit civil police officer who completed training at the Peroorkada Special Armed Police (SAP) Battalion and the Women Battalion. The new recruits included 111 persons from the SAP Battalion and 129 from the Women Battalion.

The Minister also distributed awards to the police recruits who had put up excellent performance to come on top during the training period.

Akshay H.S. was named Best Indoor Cadet from the SAP Battalion; Rahul R. was selected as the Best Outdoor Cadet; Akash A. was adjudged the Best Shooter and Amal M.A. was elected the Best All-Rounder.

From the Women Battalion, Viji B. was named Best Indoor Cadet; Aswathy Biju, the Best Outdoor Cadet, Vinsy V. emerged the Best Shooter and Sreelakshmi R was selected as the Best All-Rounder.

As part of their nine-month basic training, recruits underwent training designed to build both physical fitness and mental resilience. The outdoor curriculum included physical fitness training, weapons training, karate, yoga, swimming, various self-defence techniques, and firing practice.

The indoor curriculum covered the Constitution, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Motor Vehicles Act, VIP security (bandobust), telecommunications, social media, cybercrime, and personality development. The recruits were also trained in forensic science, forensic medicine, penology, victimology and cyber forensics. Training was also given on appropriate conduct towards women, children, senior citizens and gender-neutral individuals, as well as on preventing crimes against the environment, a reflection of the humane face that the police is striving for.

Among those present on the occasion were the State Police Chief Ravada A. Chandrasekhar; ADGP (Armed Police Battalion) Balram Kumar Upadhyay; ADGP and Managing Director of Kerala Police Housing and Construction Corporation G. Lakshman; ADGP (Intelligence) Dinendra Kashyap; ADGP (Crime Branch) H. Venkatesh; IG Harshita Attalluri (holding additional charge of ADGP, Police Headquarters) and other senior police officers, and families of the new recruits.
