Extending gratitude to tribal people on the occasion of the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan said the forests had protected the tribal communities for generations, and in return, they had protected the forests as guardians of nature, culture and ancient wisdom.

In a social media post on Sunday (August 9, 2026), he said this year’s theme, ‘Honouring Indigenous Midwives: Safeguarding Life and Well-being’, was a reminder of the invaluable traditional knowledge passed down through generations and the vital role indigenous women and communities had played in protecting life, health, culture and heritage.

Mr. Pawan Kalyan said he had a deep personal bond with the tribal communities, and that their affection and trust had always strengthened his resolve to work for their dignity and welfare.

He said that through measures such as Adavi Thalli Baata, improved connectivity to remote habitations, livelihood opportunities and stronger protection of forests and wildlife, the government had been working to ensure that development reached every tribal family, and to protect its identity and traditions.
