A first division assistant (FDA) at the office of Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy was booked for misusing the seal of the Police Commissioner while submitting a claim for the reimbursement of treatment expenses.

In the complaint, S.I. Vandalkar, the Superintendent at the account’s branch of the Police Commissioner’s office, said S.T. Yashaswini, FDA, submitted a claim seeking reimbursement of ₹1.95 lakh towards her husband Pushpakumar’s hip surgery, and annexed bills amounting to ₹15,398. Among the bills annexed were those related to her mother S. Pankaja’s treatment. Pushpakumar’s Essentiality Certificate did not have the hospital’s medical officer's signature, but had a signature with seal ‘For Commissioner of Police’.

Similarly, another claim for ₹2.86 lakh for treatment of Mr. Pushpakumar was submitted, for which bills amounting to ₹65,831 were annexed. Among the bills annexed were those related to her mother’s treatment and also her mother’s discharge summary. Here too, the Essentiality Certificate did not have the signature of the hospital’s medical officer, but had a signature with seal ‘For Commissioner of Police’. She also submitted bills related to her treatment in June 2025, which had not been sanctioned.

Ms. Vandalkar accused Ms. Yashaswini of criminal breach of trust. The Mangaluru South police have registered the complaint for an offence under Section 316(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita on August 7.

Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy has issued an order suspending Ms. Yashaswini, pending disciplinary inquiry.
