Captain Anton Bobrovskyi, commander of the unmanned systems specialist training company at the 199th Training Center of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, spoke about this in an interview with Ukrinform.

“When we conduct personnel selection, we emphasize that skills in using a gamepad are a definite plus. We specifically highlight the video game Grand Theft Auto. Those who completed the helicopter mission have become some of the best FPV drone operators,” Bobrovskyi noted.

According to him, the training center also focuses on people who have worked in the IT sector and have experience repairing equipment. The Airborne Assault Forces have repair workshops where unmanned systems undergo maintenance—including firmware updates, repairs, retrofitting, and upgrades—all of which require skilled hands and attention to detail.

“I want to convey to people planning to enlist that unmanned systems are fun and exciting. I like to give the example that a rifleman doesn’t always see the target he’s hitting, but an FPV operator can see all the way down to the expression on his opponent’s face,” the commander added.

As reported by Ukrinform, Volodymyr Zelensky stated that new domestically produced drones will be able to strike targets at distances of over 3,000 kilometers.
