Minister of Industries and Commerce T.G. Bharath Gupta said that the services of “102 Thalli Bidda Express” are being strengthened to provide timely medical care to pregnant women, new mothers, and newborns during emergencies. He said that 500 new vehicles have been launched across the State and 27 vehicles have been allocated to Kurnool district.

Accompanied by District Collector Dr. A. Siri, Panyam MLA Gouru Charitha Reddy, and other officials, the Minister flagged off the vehicles at the District Medical and Health Office premises in Kurnool city on Tuesday (August 11, 2026).

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister stated that the ‘102’ services play a crucial role in transporting pregnant women to hospitals promptly during emergencies and ensuring the safe return of mothers and infants to their homes after delivery. He said the new vehicles are equipped with air conditioning and modern technological features designed for use in emergencies.

Referring to the vehicles as “Captains” for their pivotal role in ensuring the safe transport of mothers and newborns, the Minister announced that the 27 vehicles allocated to Kurnool district would be deployed strategically to provide timely transportation for pregnant women and new mothers, particularly from remote areas. He stated that funds and resources are being mobilised with a priority on essential medical services for the public.

“Special measures are being taken to strengthen infrastructure, medical equipment, and buildings at the Kurnool Government General Hospital. Development works are being carried out using government funds, supplemented by CSR funds. Efforts are on to make ventilators and other essential medical equipment available at the hospital,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Siri said that strengthening the “Thalli-Bidda Express” services in Kurnool district has ensured the availability of safe transportation for high-risk pregnant women, postpartum mothers, and newborns. She urged every pregnant woman and postpartum mother to make use of these government-provided services.

Panyam MLA Gouru Charitha Reddy said the State government accords utmost priority to the health and well-being of mothers and children. The MLA highlighted that the coalition government is placing high priority on the healthcare sector.

District Medical and Health Officer Dr. Kameswara Prasad, GGH Superintendent Dr. K Venkateswarlu, and others participated in the event.
