Barely a month after the Bengaluru triple murder case sent shockwaves across the city, police have revealed that the prime accused, Kenneth, had used Artificial Intelligence (AI) to research how to commit a murder and dispose of a body.

In June, a 55-year-old man, his 48-year-old wife, and their 20-year-old daughter were stabbed to death at an apartment in Bengaluru's KR Puram area.

During the preliminary investigation, police suspicion fell on the slain couple's 25-year-old daughter, Shwetha, and her live-in partner, Kenneth, who had both gone absconding. They were tracked down in Puducherry, where Shwetha was taken into custody on June 24, followed by Kenneth's arrest a day later, on June 25.

Now, a month later, police sources have disclosed that Kenneth had used Google's AI assistant, Gemini, to research how to commit a murder.

According to police, Kenneth did not ask direct questions such as, "How do I dispose of a body?" or "How do I commit a murder?" Instead, he allegedly framed his queries indirectly, asking questions along the lines of, "If something like this happens, what should I do?"

Police further said Kenneth used only Gemini for his searches. According to investigators, he had initially planned to use an iron furnace that he had purchased for a proposed cloud kitchen venture to dispose of the bodies. However, he later realised that the idea was not practically feasible.

Police also said Kenneth allegedly asked Gemini questions such as, "Thieves came into my house. How do I attack them? What are the weapons?"

According to police sources, he also searched for ways to first blind a person and then stab them, allegedly attempting to obtain information through the AI chatbot.

Investigators said the iron furnace had originally been purchased for the proposed cloud kitchen. Later, according to police, Kenneth considered using it to dispose of the bodies and made certain arrangements with that objective in mind.

Based on their investigation, police believe the murders were premeditated. They alleged that Kenneth had been planning the crime for some time. Investigators further claimed that Shwetha was aware that he had spoken about such ideas on several occasions but believed he was speaking casually and did not think he intended to act on them.

According to police, Kenneth's alleged motive was to murder the family, take their money and live without financial constraints. Investigators claimed he believed that if Shwetha's parents were no longer alive, they would stop demanding money from him and that Shwetha would also be freed from the daily pressure she faced. These findings are part of the police investigation.
