ROME, August 13. /TASS/. An explosion occurred at a plant producing medium-and large-caliber ammunition near Rome, ANSA reports.

The plant is the former Sammel Difesa ammunition factory and is now owned by the defense company KNDS Ammo Italy.

The explosion caused a fire. Several firefighting crews are working at the site, but efforts to contain the fire remain difficult.
