Fatal crash between car and pedestrian in Hokitika

A person has died in hospital following a crash between a pedestrian and a car in Hokitika.

Police were called to the intersection of Fitzherbert and Park streets shortly before 9am on Friday.

The person was taken to Greymouth Hospital, but died shortly after.

Police said they were unable to make further comment as they worked with next of kin and family.

Fitzherbert Street was closed between Tudor and Hampden Streets but reopened at 3pm.
