Disney has announced that a Kingdom Hearts series is coming to Disney+ at tonight’s D23 event showcasing upcoming projects across the company’s portfolio.

News on the show is scarce at this point, but it will apparently not follow Sora, Donald, and Goofy, and will instead tell a new story in the Kingdom Hearts universe. Series director Tetsuya Nomura will be involved, so expect the show to probably be canon and have major ramifications for the series moving forward.

But that’s not all Kingdom Hearts news that came from D23. Square Enix and Disney also confirmed that Kingdom Hearts IV will finally launch in 2027. A new trailer for the game confirms that one of the Disney worlds featured in the game will be based on Coco, Pixar’s 2017 film inspired by the Day of the Dead.
