CCTV footage captures masked burglars stealing masterpiece paintings from Italian museum in under three minutes
CCTV footage shows the moment a gang of masked burglars broke into an Italian museum and stole paintings worth £7.7m in less than three minutes.
Video shared by the Italian Police shows the men, wearing balaclavas and head torches, breaking into the Fondazione Magnani Rocca museum in Mamiano di Traversetolo, near Parma, on 22 March.
The men can be seen sprinting through the museum as they tore three pieces of art by iconic artists Cezanne, Matisse and Renoir off the walls.
On Friday, Italian police announced that they had arrested five suspects and recovered the artworks, worth €9m (£7.7m) in total.
The five suspects detained are believed to belong to an organised crime group responsible for numerous thefts of homes, businesses and other properties.
