For weeks, My Chemical Romance has been surging on the charts in the United Kingdom. The gains follow the British leg of the band’s Long Live The Black Parade Tour, which brought the group to Liverpool and Glasgow before three enormous concerts at London’s Wembley Stadium – one of the country’s largest and most famous venues.
This frame is especially notable for the rock outfit on the U.K. charts. Multiple albums return to various rankings, several titles reach new peaks and My Chemical Romance — whose most recent studio collection arrived nearly 16 years ago — even earns another No. 1.
My Chemical Romance Scores a Sixth Rock Chart No. 1
Seven weeks into its time on the Official Rock \& Metal Albums chart, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys reenters the genre-specific ranking at No. 1. The album reaches the summit for the first time and gives My Chemical Romance a sixth champion on the tally.
Here are all of My Chemical Romance’s No. 1s on the Official Rock \& Metal Albums chart.
- Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys
- Life on the Murder Scene
- May Death Never Stop You
- The Black Parade
- The Black Parade Is Dead!
- Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge
It’s Been Years Since My Chemical Romance’s Latest Album Charted
Danger Days was released in November 2010 and remains the band’s final studio album — at least up until now. It did not reach the Official Rock \& Metal Albums chart until December 2011, when it debuted at No. 25. That remained its all-time high for more than a decade, until this week.
The set was last seen on the roster in June 2022. This return marks not only the project’s first week at No. 1, but its first appearance anywhere inside the top 10.
My Chemical Romance Has Ruled With Six Albums
My Chemical Romance has placed eight projects on the Official Rock \& Metal Albums chart, and half a dozen have reached No. 1. Only I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love and The Black Parade/Living with Ghosts missed the loftiest space. The group’s debut album launched at its No. 29 peak in October 2015 and never climbed higher. One year later, the expanded Black Parade anniversary edition rose to No. 3.
My Chemical Romance Debuts at No. 2 on Two Sales Charts
As it leads the rock-only ranking, Danger Days debuts at No. 2 on both the Official Albums Sales and Official Vinyl Albums charts. The former combines purchases on physical formats with paid downloads, while the latter focuses solely on vinyl sales. In both instances, Foreign Tongues by the Rolling Stones beats MCR to the throne.
The album gives My Chemical Romance its second top 10 on the Official Albums Sales chart. Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge previously peaked at No. 5.
My Chemical Romance simultaneously establishes a new career high on the Official Vinyl Albums ranking. Danger Days surpasses the No. 4 peak established by Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge years ago, and the No. 7 placement managed by The Black Parade/Living with Ghosts when that collection debuted nearly a decade ago. The group has now collected only three vinyl chart top 10s.
My Chemical Romance Matches Its Career High Point
Danger Days reenters another two rankings in the runner-up position, and that space now stands as a new peak for the title on both rosters. The album returns to the Official Albums and Official Physical Albums charts at No. 2.
On the Official Albums chart — the U.K.’s main ranking of the most-consumed full-lengths and EPs — Danger Days gives My Chemical Romance a third top 10. The latest win also matches the band’s career-best showing, which the rock musicians first established with The Black Parade nearly 20 years ago.
The same is true on the Official Physical Albums chart. Danger Days comes within one rung of ruling and ties The Black Parade as the group’s highest-charting release on the roster. My Chemical Romance is now up to four top 10s on the physical-only list.
My Chemical Romance Reaches the Top Two Almost Everywhere
Of the six U.K. charts where Danger Days appears, the album only misses the top two on one. The set reenters the Official Album Downloads list at No. 8. That’s just one space beneath its previously-set No. 7 peak. Danger Days first arrived on the downloads ranking in December 2010, shortly after its release. The full-length has now only appeared as a bestseller on storefronts like iTunes in the U.K. twice.
