Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Environment and Forests K. Pawan Kalyan sounded an alert on Sunday about the movement of a herd of elephants in Chandragiri area of Tirupati district.

He directed the Forest department officials to continuously monitor their movement and keep people in the nearby villages informed from time to time to prevent deaths and mitigate property damages.

It was stated in a press release that elephants were moving in the Seshachalam forests in two groups and damaging crop fields at night, thereby scaring the people.

Mr. Pawan Kalyan suggested that special night patrols be arranged in the villages near forest areas and that awareness be created among the public to avoid going to agricultural fields at night and in vulnerable areas. He ordered that warnings be issued in villages through public address systems, mobile phone messages, and local information networks, and that H.A.N.U.M.A.N. teams be deployed wherever necessary to ensure public safety.

The Minister also appealed to the public to remain vigilant and follow instructions issued by Forest department officials strictly. Additionally, he instructed the officials to pay compensation promptly as incidents occur, without unnecessary delays.
