This is the moment a woman was found hiding under a bed after plotting a knife attack on a 'partner' who was stabbed in north London.

Leah Campbell-Knechtel was found cowering underneath a mattress by police officers on January 20, following a 48-hour man-hunt.

The 28-year-old was arrested and charged with attempted murder alongside her accomplice, Jawad Naser, 47.

Two days earlier, officers were called to a flat in Islington at 7.03pm after Naser stabbed a 66-year-old multiple times in a money dispute.

The victim gave Campbell-Knechtel thousands of pounds during an apparent relationship, even handing over more money when she asked for financial help.

However, after he demanded the money back from his apparent partner, an argument broke out.

Campbell-Knechtel visited the victim's flat that evening claiming she wanted to make peace, but she instead opened the door for Naser and gave him a knife taken from the kitchen.

He proceeded to stab the man multiple times leaving him with life-threatening injuries which required emergency surgery.

Detectives worked quickly to identify the pair as suspects as Naser was arrested at his home in Muswell Hill four hours after the attack.

His blood-stained trainers, which were recovered during the arrest, were presented as evidence during the trial.

After Naser's arrest, officers began a manhunt for Campbell-Knechtel, tracking her down to a Muswell Hill address.

Police body-camera footage of the arrest shows officers armed with Tasers enter the property at 12:36pm on January 20.

As they searched the property a police officer said: 'Leah, it's the police with Tasers, come out and show yourself.'

Upon entering the bedroom, officers lifted a mattress, revealing Campbell-Knetchtel hiding underneath a wooden bedframe.

An officer then said: 'Leah you're under arrest for attempted murder' to which she replied, 'can I just put my clothes on first?'

Both Naser and Campbell-Knechtel were charged with attempted murder and grievous bodily harm with intent (GBH).

Police officers lead Campbell-Knechtel out of the property after she was charged with attempted murder

They were sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment at the Old Bailey on Friday, August 14 after the jury found them guilty of GBH but not attempted murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Gemma Alger said: 'Campbell-Knechtel thought she could avoid justice by hiding under a bed, but our officers were right on her trail.

'This was a savage knife attack by Naser that left the victim with life-changing injuries.

'Less than 48 hours after the attack, officers had pieced together the evidence, tracked down the suspects, and put them in custody. Now they're exactly where they belong - behind bars.

'Campbell-Knechtel may not have wielded the knife herself, but she lured the victim into a false sense of security and made the attack possible. The sentences recognise that her role was every bit as serious.'
