Huntsville, AL — Moog Inc. (NYSE: MOG.A and MOG.B) announces a significant expansion at its Huntsville, AL facility that now includes a new secure Hypersonic/Interceptor Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) lab. It is one of the only HWIL labs in the U.S. that can test a Hypersonic vehicle flight control system with real environmental factors using physical components in a multidomain environment. This realistic testing and validation of complex missile and hypersonic flight control systems supports accelerated development cycles, reduces risk, and improves mission readiness for next-generation weapon systems for U.S. defense and space customers.
To commemorate the milestone, Moog hosted an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony during the Space and Missile Defense Symposium. The event showcased the breadth and depth of Moog’s portfolio, highlighting key capabilities such as the Reconfigurable Integrated-weapons Platform (RIwP®) turret, Specialized Quad Rail Launcher, Meteorite High-Capacity Space Vehicle, and other advanced defense and space capabilities. Guests were invited to tour the facility, engage with senior leaders from Moog’s Space and Defense divisions, and observe a hypersonic vehicle mission demonstration.
“Moog has quietly assembled the technical breadth and depth necessary to solve our warfighters toughest problems in many emerging platforms; this HWIL is our demonstration to the end-customer that we are doing more “Speed of Relevance” to prove out capabilities before costly flight testing,” said Greg Semrau, Moog Space Division Technical Director.
The capabilities of the HWIL lap and the custom active load stand Moog developed for it are a key focus, enabling the team to be trusted partners in reducing risk for customers. The facility expands Moog’s footprint in one of the nation’s premier centers for U.S. defense innovation and missile development. The site will serve as a hub for systems engineering, integration, testing, and program development, enabling closer collaboration with customers, industry partners, and government stakeholders.
“We are thrilled to host local North Alabama leadership, along with government and industry partners, to show our continued commitment to growing our business in the region. The open house provides a unique opportunity for guests to experience firsthand innovative solutions and advanced technologies being developed and tested at our facility. We are proud to share how Moog is contributing to the future of defense and space while expanding our presence in Huntsville,” said Julia Stoll, Moog Huntsville General Manager.
