SEOUL, Aug. 21 (Yonhap) -- Samsung Electronics Co. said Friday it has won 45 awards at the 2026 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA), one of the world's top three design competitions.
Hosted by the Industrial Designers Society of America, IDEA is considered one of the world's three major design awards, along with Germany's iF Design Award and the Red Dot Design Award.
This year's winning designs included accessibility features for home appliances that take into account users' physical characteristics, as well as advanced designs focused on sustainability and future lifestyles, the South Korean tech giant said.
In particular, Samsung's accessibility design for home appliances received an Impact Award, which considers users' varying needs, making it easier and more convenient for everyone to use appliances such as washing machines and refrigerators.
LG Electronics Inc. also said it won a total of 17 awards at IDEA 2026, including five bronze awards.
With the latest wins, LG has swept all three of the world's major design awards, with a combined 55 awards.
