From playful cabaret songs to soulful ghazals, Asha Bhosle sang in every genre. Thus, remembering her, Salman Zaman says, ‘She introduced Bollywood to true versatility. Because of her, the industry discovered that a singer could effortlessly move from the softest melodies to the most energetic dance numbers.”

“There is no comparison. From “Duniya Mein Logon Ko” to “Salona Sa Sajan,” she defined an era and inspired generations,” he continues.

Paying a heartfelt tribute, he concludes, “It’s a loss for us, but heaven must be celebrating her arrival. Her voice will live on forever.”

Asha Bhosle passes away: All about the National Award-winning singer’s last rites

On Saturday, April 11, 2026, Asha Bhosle was rushed to the hospital due to a chest infection and severe exhaustion. On Sunday, April 12, 2026, while addressing the media outside the hospital, the singer’s son, Anand Bhosle, confirmed the news of her demise.

He also shared that Asha Bhosle’s last rites will be performed at 4 pm in Mumbai, Shivaji Park. The procession will go from her residence to Shivaji Park.

Furthermore, full state honours will be accorded to the National Award-winning singer. Her mortal remains have been placed in a glass casket, draped in the tricolour and adorned with white lilies. She was also honoured with a ceremonial salute as part of the state honour.
