According to a Facebook statement by the SOF, reported by Ukrinform, the strike was carried out by the Deep Strike units of the Special Operations Forces in coordination with the Russian resistance movement Chernaya Iskra (Black Spark).

"SOF drones traveled more than 2,000 kilometers to reach the target. Key refinery facilities were protected by anti-drone nets, but that did not save them. A fire is currently raging on the refinery's premises," the statement said.

This marks the second successful strike on the Tyumen Oil Refinery by Ukraine's SOF. The facility was previously hit on June 20.

The Tyumen Oil Refinery is one of Russia's largest refineries, with an annual processing capacity of up to 9 million metric tons of crude oil. Owing to its high refining depth, it specializes in producing high-quality gasoline and diesel fuel.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, the Tyumen Oil Refinery (a branch of the Moscow-based company Ri-Invest) is the only major oil refinery in Russia's Ural Federal District. Located in the industrial zone of Tyumen near the Antipino neighborhood, it has a refining depth of up to 98% and produces Euro-5 diesel fuel, stabilized gasoline, petroleum coke, bitumen, and fuel oil.

Formerly known as the Antipinsky Oil Refinery, the facility was acquired by Ri-Invest, controlled by businessman Anatoly Yablonsky, following bankruptcy proceedings in May 2021 and was subsequently renamed the Tyumen Oil Refinery.

Before the latest strike, the refinery had also been targeted on June 20, 2026, and in October 2025.
