Black smoke is rising over West Auckland as more than a dozen fire crews race to respond to a major blaze at a boat building facility.
The smoke can be seen from as far away as Point Chevalier, where one witness filmed a dark plume rising from the Glendene industrial
precinct several kilometres away.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson said they had fourteen crews - including support crews - responding to the blaze.
“Crews are working to bring the fire under control,” the spokesperson said.
