LONDON, July 21. /TASS/. Former UK Health Secretary Wes Streeting has been appointed defense secretary in new British Prime Minister Andy Burnham's government, according to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office at 10 Downing Street.

"The King [UK King Charles III] has been pleased to approve the following appointments: Right Honourable Member of Parliament Wes Streeting as Secretary of State for Defence," the statement said.
