A magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck Halmahera, Indonesia, on Wednesday, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported.
The tremor was recorded at a depth of 127 km (78.91 miles).
Halmahera is the largest island in the Maluku Islands (Moluccas) of Indonesia, covering 17,780 square kilometers (6,865 sq mi).
It was not immediately known if there were any injuries.
