A new report from Bloomberg today offers an in-depth look at Apple’s Mac pipeline. The report details updates coming to the MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iMac, and much more over the next several years.
New MacBook Air, iMac, MacBook Pro, and more
Before the end of this year, Bloomberg says Apple is aiming to launch the following new Macs:
- A new entry-level MacBook Pro powered by the M6 chip
- New iMacs
- New high-end 14-inch and 16-inch touchscreen MacBook lineup with OLED screens, powered by M5 Pro and M5 Max
The new high-end MacBook models are “on track for release between the end of this year and early next year,” the report says. Apple is testing the machines with macOS 27.1, which will likely be released at the end of October.
In early 2027, Apple is planning an updated MacBook Air lineup. The company is also working on a redesigned entry-level MacBook Pro powered by the M7 chip for next year. A new MacBook Neo is also in the works, with Apple testing a model powered by the A19 Pro chip. The report says Apple is planning to “periodically” refresh the MacBook Neo with new colors, too.
Apple is also testing a Mac mini lineup powered by the M5 Pro and base M6 processors. There are also new Mac Studio models in testing with the M5 Max and M5 Ultra processors. “But the timing of those machines — and the planned chip and memory configurations — hinge on the state of memory-chip supplies,” Bloomberg cautions.
Looking further into the future, Bloomberg says an OLED MacBook Air is in the works for “as early as 2028.” Apple is also reportedly working on an OLED iMac, which would follow the OLED MacBook Air.
