Assets held by the 465 members of the House of Representatives who won seats in the lower chamber of the parliament in February’s general election averaged ¥32.78 million ($201,700), a Jiji Press tally showed Tuesday.
The figure rose by ¥6.09 million from the previous average disclosed in April 2025.
The top asset holder was Ichiro Aisawa of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, with ¥790.44 million. Real estate accounted for ¥702.44 million of his assets, and financial assets stood at ¥88 million. He also reported some 2.77 million shares in two stocks.
The LDP’s Hirohisa Takagi ranked second with ¥789.09 million, and former Prime Minister Taro Aso of the LDP, who topped the previous list, came in third with ¥601.53 million.
In the latest list, 27 Lower House members had assets worth over ¥100 million, while 83 reported zero assets.
The average value of real estate owned by Lower House members came to ¥22.38 million and that of financial assets stood at ¥10.4 million.
The average assets held by male Lower House members stood at ¥36.09 million, while the average for female members came to ¥13.48 million.
The LDP logged the highest average with ¥40.54 million, followed by the opposition Democratic Party for the People with ¥23.78 million. The average assets stood at ¥16.01 million for the Japan Innovation Party, the LDP’s coalition partner, ¥15.96 million for the Centrist Reform Alliance, ¥14.45 million for Sanseito, ¥8.31 million for Team Mirai and ¥7.61 million for the Japanese Communist Party.
The assets held by the only Lower House member from Reiwa Shinsengumi came to ¥7.01 million.
The latest report is based on assets held by Lower House members as of Feb. 8 this year, when their terms began.
